Manchester Mind would like you invite you to attend Mental Health First Aid (Adult) training.

This course is running live, online over 4 sessions, via the MHFA online learning hub on:

Session 1 - Tuesday 4th July 2023 - 9am - 12:30pm

Session 2 - Thursday 6th July 2023 - 9am - 1pm

Session 3 - Tuesday 11th July 2023 - 9am - 1pm

Session 4 - Thursday 13th July 2023 - 9am - 12pm

Each session will be 2-3 hours long. All sessions must be attended and unfortunately we cannot record sessions. The sessions will be practical and participants will be encouraged to join in and take part. However, remember, if something doesn't feel right, you can stop any time.

Course Overview:

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised two day course which will certify you as a Mental Health First Aider.

You'll learn to recognise warning signs of poor mental health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem, while keeping yourself safe.

Learning aims:

»        An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
»        Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health problems
»        Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
»        Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
»        Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support

Course content:

»        What is mental health, understanding of the issues, overcoming stigma and discrimination
»        MHFA action plan
»        Symptoms, risk factors and treatment of common mental health issues
»        Signposting to treatment and resources, crisis first aid
»        Self care

Who is the training for:

Those who would like to be a key point of contact to support people who may be experiencing a mental health problem.

How will the booking process work:

  • You will be asked for your email address which is how we will communicate with you before and after the course.
  • Joining instructions and links will be emailed approximately 7 days before the course starts and then a reminder 1-2 days before the course starts.

  • All sessions must be attended and home learning completed to receive your MHFA (Adult) certificate
